McPVP Stream Team

$

0

Even if you have already watched our live-streams, you should read on. This post is all about our Twitch channel, our Twitch team, and the many ways you can participate!

How to Watch:

It’s easy! Just point your browser to www.twitch.tv/team/mcpvp. On the left side, you will see several Twitch channels – each one is owned by a different McPVP player.

The channels that are currently live will be at the top of the list and will show a viewer count to the right of their name. Just click on a channel name to start watching!

(Alternatively, click on their stream link to go to their direct channel page, which lets you see the stream chat. We often do giveaways for our followers and communicate with the viewers in chat.)

The official channel is called simply “McPVP.” Although we can’t stream 24/7, we have many partnered channels on our team so there is almost always a channel streaming something interesting on McPVP!

Don’t forget to click “follow all” at the top of the Team page! Following our channels helps support every stream on the team and we often do follower-only giveaways.

How to Play With Us:

Just watch the stream and see what we’re up to! The official channel is almost always doing something that involves the viewers – sometimes it’s a special game on our Event Server, and sometimes we’re just playing Hunger Games and showing the IP as we join a game.

(Follow us to each HG and team with us or try to kill us! Both are fun.)

How to Join the Stream Team:

Do you stream McPVP servers on your own Twitch channel? Send us an application to join the team!

The only requirements to be on the official stream team are that you have to stream mainly Minecraft on your channel, and mainly McPVP servers.

Don’t worry about your viewer count. If you’re fun and friendly and you stream mostly McPVP, it doesn’t matter if you have 5 or 500 regular viewers. You’ll get lots more from being featured on the official channel.

Click here to learn how to apply to the team.

P.S. Want to know more about the Event server? Check out my earlier blog post about how to participate in and contribute new game and event ideas to be featured on the server and/or stream.

Sabotage – Playing Saboteur

$

0

Sabotage is a fun-packed, cunning game where the Saboteurs need to outwit the Innocents in order to succeed. Equally, the Innocents need to figure out who the Saboteurs are in order to achieve victory. In this post, I will be covering how to effectively play as everyone’s favorite, the Saboteur role!

IP: mc-sabotage.com

Here are a few of my top tips:

  • If you want to win the game for you and your fellow Saboteurs, you absolutely must utilize the shop to its full potential. To bring up the shop, type “/shop” when the game has started. I recommend purchasing the Hack Revelation and then testing in the tester. This will convince people around you that you’re innocent – but not permanently…depending on your play-style, and how the game plays out you can purchase different items. The Martyr item is excellent for taking out a huge amount of people around the tester, allowing your fellow Saboteurs to win the game. However keep in mind that you will not get any Karma from Martyr kills!
  • Play smart! Target out the Innocent players who are on their own. This way nobody will be able to see you, or they won’t know who died or where. It’s good for getting some early kills and easy Karma, just ensure that nobody is around you when you kill them – otherwise it could backfire on you.
  • Work together with your fellow Saboteurs. Coordinate attacks together in groups, blame Innocent players for other players’ deaths and make sure a fellow Saboteur is always near you to help you if you need.
  • Know the map, and use your weapons to suit your needs for the environment. If the map you’re playing on has lots of steep cliffs where players can die from fall damage, utilize this to knock them off it. If your map is very hilly, then use your bow and use it from a high vantage point. You will need to try and coordinate with your fellow Saboteurs for complete map control, but with good communication it’s possible!
The Saboteur role is always the most fun, however being caught out early is never a nice thing. Sometimes it’s best to not get carried away when you’re a Saboteur, but to be patient and smart – as that way, you can survive to the end, get the most amount of Karma and win the game for you and your fellow Saboteurs. Patience is the key to victory in Sabotage, so best of luck!

Hopefully these tips help you. As always, if you have any questions regarding the Saboteur role please do post them in a comment. I’ll try and answer as many as I can! :-)

Potion ID List for Main and Badger

$

0

Potions add variety to PvP and are very useful in many situations on around Main and Badger.

Remembering the IDs for them can be frustrating at times. If you find yourself in a pinch and need a specific potion, opening that notepad where you wrote them down isn’t always optimal. So we’ve simplified them to provide an easier way to buy and sell potions with the use of the economy.

Below is a full list of IDs and the corresponding potions.

hp1 = Health potion I
hp2 = Health potion II
rp1 = Regeneration potion I
rp1e = Regeneration potion I Extended
rp2 = Regeneration potion II
dp1 = Instant Damage potion I
dp2 = Instant Damage potion II
swp1 = Swiftness potion I
swp1e = Swiftness potion I Extended
swp2 = Swiftness potion II
slp1 = Slowness potion I
slp1e = Slowness potion I Extended
strp1 = Strength potion I
strp1e = Strength potion I Extended
strp2 = Strength potion II
wp1 = Weakness potion I
wp1e = Weakness potion I Extended
pp1 = Poison potion I
pp1e = Poison potion I Extended
pp2 = Poison potion II
frp1 = Fire resistance potion I
frp1e = Fire resistance potion I Extended
invp = Invisibility potion
nvp = Nightvision potion

To purchase splash potions simply add “s” to the end of each potion ID, for example: swp2s for a Splash Swiftness potion II.

Hope this helped!

New Super Smash PVP Map Features

We have introduced an exciting new option for custom Super Smash PVP maps!

We can now decide which items spawn on which maps on mcsmash.com which means you can decide that no hammers are allowed to spawn on your submitted map, or only TNT may spawn.

To showcase this new feature, we will have a special event on McSmash.com sometime in the near future (the exact time will be announced on the forums) where we’re going to set the servers to only have the Battle Stadium map:

And the only item will be the Monster Ball!

Want to include this new feature on your own Smash Map?

If you haven’t read my previous post about how to create a smash map, check it out here!

If you haven’t submitted a map yet (or even have you have and you would like to add options to your other map) fill out this config file.

The config file looks like this:

{
  "RespawnHeight": 32,
  "IncludedItems": ["MONSTER_BALL", "SWIFT_FEATHER"]
}

The above setting would make it so only Monster Balls and Swift Feathers spawn on your map.

Or:

{
  "RespawnHeight": 32,
  "ExcludedItems": ["TNT"]
}

This would make it so every item has a chance to spawn, except for TNT.

The list of possible items are:

FIRE_FLOWER, HAMMER, HOME_RUN_BAT, LAND_MINE, MAXIM_APPLE, MONSTER_BALL, SWIFT_FEATHER, TNT, GOLDEN_MAXIM_APPLE, CLOAKING_POTION, METAL_BOX

The “RespawnHeight” option determines what Y: coordinate level will cause someone to “die” and lose a point.

Choose your maps settings and the send your map’s World file (Contained in your .Minecraft folder inside the folder called “Saves”) along with this brand new config file to MassiveChoons@mcpvp.com with the subject “McSmash Map.”

It may take a little while before your map is evaluated, but if we like it, it’ll be added to the server!

Item Salvaging on Hardcore PvP

$
0
0

If you’ve been around the PvP and raiding scene on our hardcore servers for a while, you’ll know what I mean when I say excess armor and tools can get to be an annoyance when trying to store and keep everything organized.

A while back, an item salvager was introduced to fix this problem but I feel it has since been overlooked and not many people know about it.

An item salvager allows you to do exactly as the name implies — salvage armor and tools for the material they’re made from.

To make an item salvager, place either a diamond or iron block (diamond block to salvage diamond, iron to salvage iron) next to a furnace. To salvage an item, right click the ore block while holding the item you want to salvage.

The amount of raw materials you receive from salvaging an item is relative to the amount of durability the item has. Salvaging an item with little durability will yield a small return while an item with higher durability will have a higher return.

Once you’ve salvaged an item, the raw materials will be placed on the ground in front of you. Keep that in mind so you don’t lose any of your items.

To receive experience when salvaging an item with an enchant, simply place an enchantment table next to the ore block.

Skype Etiquette

$
0
0

The entire McPVP staff uses Skype extensively. I have three monitors connected to my work computer, and one of them almost always has Skype occupying the entire screen. We are constantly in communication with each other throughout the work day, using several group chats to talk about various topics. We frequently talk directly to each other about things as well.

The McPVP staff is pretty much constantly bombarded with Skype Contact Requests. I ignore most of these, but liberally block Skype contacts that are too “needy.” This has led to some confusion and some hurt feelings on more than one occasion.

So here I am to explain why I block people from Skype, why I won’t add you, and some general Skype etiquette everyone should observe.

1. Don’t send a contact request if you “just want to chat.”

If I don’t know who you are and you didn’t make any effort to explain why you are trying to add me as a contact – or perhaps you did make an effort, and it’s just not something that interests me – then I’m going to ignore your Skype Contact Request.

I honestly don’t have time to “chat about the weather” with hundreds of people every day. If you have something specific (and relevant) you want to talk about, tell me what that is in your contact request. Get right to the point! I already spend two or three hours of every work day just talking to people about various things.

If I do add you, but it turns out that you just want to chat about random stuff or you just report every hacker you come across, or you use me as a support hotline, then I’m going to block you. No, you didn’t necessarily do anything wrong, but I simply don’t have time to chat with everyone.

2. Don’t freak out when I don’t respond to your chat immediately.

I have probably blocked two or three dozen contacts from Skype, simply because they get mad when I don’t respond to some question they asked me within a few minutes or even a few hours (like when they ask the question at 2 AM and I’m sleeping).

There are a number of reasons I might not respond to you immediately. First of all, I’m probably busy. Just because I’m on Skype doesn’t mean I’m actively responding to every message that pops up. Think about if you were trying to solve some particularly hard math problems for homework, and a friend came up and started chatting with you. Wouldn’t that be annoying?

The great thing about chatting online is that it’s a passive activity. That means that an immediate response isn’t required. You can’t ignore your friend when he walks up to you. You can ignore a chat message. So don’t freak out!

Even more annoying is when I’m not at my computer and someone “accuses” me of ignoring them – especially(!) when it’s the middle of the night and I’m not going to be online for another 8 or 10 hours. Skype even tells you what time it is for the person you are chatting with. Use it!

3. Skype isn’t a support hotline.

If you need help, email our support (info@mcpvp.com)! They can take care of any problems you are having, I promise! I feel bad for ignoring people’s requests for help, but if I obliged every help request I received, I’d spend 8 hours a day doing nothing but support requests. This is what our customer services department is for!

4. Don’t add me to group chats without asking me first!

This has got to be the most annoying thing ever, and pretty much immediately results in me blocking your Skype account.

5. Don’t call me without asking first!

Like I said before, IM  is a form of passive communication. Calling someone is a form of active communication, meaning that it completely disrupts what the recipient is currently doing, and forces them to engage with you. Choosing active communication when passive communication is just as easy is RUDE.

I hope this clears up any confusion with regards to how I (and the rest of the McPVP team) use Skype.

We have an awesome community of players and we’re glad that you choose to play on our servers. That’s why we have a dedicated Customer Service department to answer your questions and help resolve your issues. Reach out to them with any concerns that you have.

New Ignore Command for Chat

$
0
0

It’s been requested a lot, debated a lot and we’ve been hesitant. We have added the /ignore command to all McPVP servers.

Is someone bugging you, spamming your PMs, cursing a lot, being a troll or being annoying in chat? Well, you needn’t put up with them for much longer…

Command Usage

/ignore PlayerNameHere

/unignore PlayerNameHere

It’s as simple as that. The /ignore command blocks all their messages from being seen in your chat window. If you mistakenly ignored the wrong person, use the /unignore command to remove it.

Your ignore list automatically resets whenever you disconnect from a server. So if you want to permanently ignore someone, you’re gonna have to remember to keep using the command.

You cannot use the /ignore command on members of staff, so please don’t use that as an excuse for not seeing our messages – we won’t believe you! :-)

What have we been up-to?

A while back we used to post status updates about what we’ve been working on, but we stopped doing it for a while. I’m going to bring it back, but tweak it slightly – summarizing public announcements and also informing you guys of some small things you maybe haven’t heard about. This will feature hopefully, every week or two – depending on how much information will be in the update. If the text is orange, it’s a link – click it for the source/originality of the announcement. If it’s in normal black text, then that means it’s internal and we didn’t formally announce it anywhere.

I aim to make this update either on a Sunday – or Monday. But remember, if it’s not there by Tuesday not much happened that week to make a full post.

General

Server Problems

Hunger Games

Capture the Flag

Sabotage

Smash

  • Kits automatically rotate every week.

Kit PVP

Hardcore PVP

  • Players now drop 2% of their gold balance when they die from environmental causes, such as hostile mobs or fall damage. If playerA dies to playerB, then playerB will receive 4% of playerA’s gold in their balance. NOTE: This tweak was later reverted for more testing.

Race of Death

Zone Control

Headshot

Staff

Community Awesomeness!

I’ll be scouting for some more stuff to put into the Community Awesomeness! section next week. I’d love to feature awesome kit strategies and gameplay, or amazing artwork, or maybe even a good deed of the week sort-a thing. If you have made something awesome that you think deserves sharing, please send me an email at wiki_kiki [at] mcpvp [dot] com – I look forward to seeing what fantastic things the community does! :)

Minecraft 1.6: Rumored Changes and How They Will Affect Our Servers

$
0
0

Here’s a list of some stuff that is supposed to be added in the Minecraft 1.6 update. When the update is launched on Monday, we will begin to update all of our servers, as well as restart the maps on the Hardcore servers.

We want to make sure that these changes don’t affect our games in a negative way, here’s how we plan to handle some of the changes:

Strength 1 will give +130% attack damage. Strength 2 will give +260% attack damage.

This has potential to affect CTF, Zone Control, Hardcore Games, Kit PvP and the Hardcore servers. We are making sure that strength isn’t overpowered, whether that means recoding Strength 2 to be less powerful (similar to the Minor Potion of Healing on Hardcore Games) or removing it altogether.

Health and Regeneration potions will be buffed.

If Health and Regeneration potions are buffed, that would have a huge effect on the Chemist class on CTF and Zone Control, and on the Hardcore servers. We are making sure that they aren’t over-powered.

Horses

This really only has potential to affect the Hardcore Servers. Horses can run really fast and might be OP around spawn. We’re going to leave them in and give it a shot; if we need to disable them within 512 blocks of spawn, or the entire map, we will. A Horse kit and/or Rider buff for Hardcore Games would definitely be in order.

Absorption and Health Boost effects

Two new potion effects called Absorption and Health Boost may be included in the update. Absorption will add 2 hearts of absorption health that cannot be replenished by eating, regeneration potions or other natural effects. Health Boost will add 2 hearts of base health.

These effects will not have a huge impact on any of our gamemodes because Health Boost is unobtainable by players, and Absorption can only be obtained by eating golden apples. (We plan to leave this effect on the Hardcore Servers.)

Both of these effects also open up a lot of possibilities for new Hardcore Games kits, CTF and Zone Control classes and may even allow our coders to change the amount of extra hearts a player can have.

To sum it up, we’re going to adapt to changes in this new update to ensure our players continue to have a great experience. Hopefully, we’ll have a lot of new fun stuff to play with.

How to Upgrade to Minecraft 1.6.2

$
0
0

There has recently been some confusion on how to upgrade to Minecraft 1.6.2. This post will explain how you can upgrade your client to the current Minecraft server version.

1. Mojang released a new Launcher which is required in order to play on versions after 1.5.2.

2. Open the new Launcher, you should see something like this:

3. Press “Edit Profile” on the far right, and a window like this will appear:

4. Now you will want to choose the latest version, pick 1.6.2 in this case, and then press “Save Profile.

5. Then Log-in with your Minecraft username and password as you would normally, and you’ll be on the latest version.

Thankfully, the new launcher makes it really easy to downgrade upgrade your version of Minecraft. You simply edit the current profile in the launcher, and choose a different version. Remember, though, the new launcher is a necessity if you want to play on versions past 1.5.2.

If you do have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!

8 Crafting Tips to Save Time in the Hardcore Games

$
0
0

One of the biggest time-wasters in the Hardcore Games is crafting. It’s slow and annoying and can take up time that could be better of spent gathering mushrooms or iron. Here are a few tips to help simplify and speed up your crafting so you spend less time at a crafting table and more time on the front lines.

Tip #1 Workbench Crafting

When crafting a workbench, add 2 extra wooden planks on either side to create sticks as well as the workbench. This will help you make a sword and tools much faster. Always remember to hold shift and then click the items so that they will go straight into your inventory.

Tip #2 Crafting Tools

When crafting tools, remember you can get multiple tools at the same time quickly. By overlapping crafting recipes, you can get both a pick and a shovel at the same time.

Tip #3 Crafting Bowls

Bowls are very important when it comes to making soup, but don’t waste time by placing planks into each spot individually. To speed this up simply left click and drag a stack of planks across the center row. Then move the center stack down one and shift click the bowls into your inventory. This will make crafting bowls much faster.

Tip #4 Crafting Soup

When crafting soup, it’s very easy to fill up your inventory on accident and not have any place to put your leftover bowls and mushrooms. To fix this simply right click one of each item into your inventory before you start crafting your soup. Then when you’re finished crafting your soup, simply shift click the leftover items back into your inventory and they will stack with the mushrooms and bowls that you already have and you won’t need to worry about not having enough room for your leftovers.

Tip #5 Faster Furnaces

It’s much easier to cook large amounts of iron if you use several furnaces to do it. Save time by crafting all your furnaces at once by left click dragging your cobblestone around the edge of the crafting table. This will spread the cobblestone out evenly allowing you to make multiple furnaces at once. This is much faster than crafting by clicking 1 cobblestone at a time.

Tip #6 Crafting Armor

Now that your iron is done cooking, it’s time to craft some armor. Craft armor quickly by doing multiple pieces at the same time. Simply put the recipes on the crafting table in this order Pants > Helmet > Boots or Chestplate > Helmet > Boots then shift click the icon and see all 3 pieces of armor craft at the same time.

Tip #7 Keeping a Clean Inventory

It’s important to keep a clean inventory so that you can re-soup faster or access items easier. One way to save time with this is by double-clicking items to stack them. Simply double click one item and if it’s a stackable item, all the other items will stack in the slot you clicked. This works very well with removing empty soup bowls from your hotbar after a fight.

Tip #8 Smart Armor Crafting Tips

Sometimes it can be confusing about what armor is going to help you the most, especially if you only have a little iron to craft with. The best strategy is always make an iron sword first as the extra damage you’ll deal is better than extra armor.

Also remember that while a helmet requires 5 iron to make and boots require 4 iron to make, they both offer the same amount of protection in fights so make the boots before you make the helmet because they cost 1 iron less and they have a higher durability. But if you don’t have enough armor to make a chestplate or pants as well then make a chestplate or pants first.

Here is a helpful chart to make sure you get the most power out of the iron you use. Remember a helmet should ONLY ever be made if you have enough iron to create a full set of armor.

Hopefully you found these tips helpful! If you have any tips as well, leave them as a comment below.

Tips and Tricks for the new Thermo Kit! As well as what we’ve done this week!

Thermo: Tips and Tricks!

The Thermo kit is the newest kit to be released, and allows kit users to turn water sources into lava – and lava sources into water. Here are a few of my tips on how to use Thermo to its full potential:

  • Create traps. Thermo is perfect for creating traps, create a long hole with water at the bottom. Place signs underneath the water to stop the water flowing, and when someone jumps down the hole – turn the water into lava. As they’re stuck in the lava, hit them with your sword to deal more damage.
  • For aggressive players, you can use water to climb up a steep hill or mountain when someone is chasing you. As you get to the top, turn the water source into lava and watch your enemy slowly burn!
  • This kit is particularly useful at the feast. Ever encountered that annoying moment when a pesky Poseidon has turned the whole feast into water? With Thermo, you can turn all of the feast into lava  - a Poseidons worst nightmare. After 10 seconds is up, and the Poseidon dead, you can turn the lava back into water.

Do you have any cool tips and tricks for the Thermo kit? Let me know in the comments below!

What’s happened this week?

- The lag issue had been resolved! The reason for the intense lag was because of Cloakers. An alternative method for Cloakers wll be implemented in the future.
- Chest tags were added as the alternative method to Cloakers.

6 Tower Takedown Strategies

Towers. We’ve all fought them and we all know how difficult some of them can be to take down. Today, I’m sharing six easy ways to take down a tower in the Hardcore Games.

Tower Takedown Prep

Before going to defeat a tower there are a few things you need to do and watch out for. First, get a bucket and spread water beneath the tower. This can be very helpful if you get knocked off when towering up as it will keep you from dying from fall damage.

Always expect the unexpected. Odds are you won’t know what their kit is, so plan for anything. Each of these tower takedown strategies is better against some kits than others. Plan for Worms, Switchers, Endermages, Stompers, Frostys, and even Pyros as just a few of the enemies you could find in a tower.

Anti-Tower Kits

Some kits are better for taking out towers than others. If you struggle with taking out towers, try using one of these kits: Endermage, Grappler, Jumper, Phantom, Jackhammer, Flash, Thor, Kangaroo, or Stomper.

1. Quick Tower

Sometimes you can catch a tower off guard if you stack up before they can see you. This tower takedown method works with surprise in your favor.

The moment you see a tower, run underneath it and use blocks to tower under it. When you reach the top of the tower, dig into it and stack up the rest of the way. Then simply defeat the players in the tower and you’re good.

This is the fastest method to take out a tower without using a good anti-tower kit. If you can catch them by surprise, it is definitely effective. However, this is also a very easy strategy to counter. If they see you, it will only take one snowball or arrow to send you falling to your doom.

2. Waterfall

After spreading water around, approach the tower normally and, using a water bucket, place water a few blocks above you on the tower.

Float up the water, then pick it up again and place it a little higher. Once you make it to the top, place a block beneath your feet and stack up into the tower.

This is good because it’s hard for a towerer to knock you off while you’re in water since it will slow down arrows and snowballs if they throw them at you. You’re also safe if they do knock you off and you can easily float back up to the last place you put the water.

The down side is they can easily remove or place a block on the water to destroy it. This strategy also takes a very long time to do and requires practice to get the timing right.

3. Projectiles

Get a good distance away from the tower and use the three-block protection tower method. This involves placing blocks on every side except the side facing the tower. This way, if the towerer throws or shoots a projectile at you, you won’t fall.

Simply tower up until you are as high as the tower, then use snowballs or arrows that you collected beforehand and throw them or shoot them at the players in the tower to knock them out of their tower.

Jump down into water to finish them off. This is a very safe method and can usually keep you out of reach of most kits. The only issue is it usually takes a lot of time to gather the blocks necessary to stack up and sometimes there is no way to gather snowballs or arrows easily.

4. Over Tower

If you’re unable to find snow or arrows, this is the best method. Simply build a tower like in method 3 but build about 10 blocks higher than the tower you’re trying to get into.

Next, build over to them, but build guard rails as well on the sides of your path as you stack over to keep from being knocked off. Once you are over their tower, jump down to them and clean up shop.

This is very effective and very low risk method. Good against most kits and can keep you from being knocked off by projectiles. However this strategy is very time-consuming and by the time you build up they can easily jump down and run away.

5. From the Base

If the tower has a base beneath it, dig up the bottom blocks and start stacking up from the base. Continue to replace the blocks as you tower up. You can also build a shield around yourself so they can’t knock you off.

This is a very safe method for towering because of the shield. However, it is very time-consuming since you need at least 4 stacks of blocks to build a shield around you.

6. Extreme

If you’ve tried all the above methods and you still can’t get into the tower, it’s time to get extreme. Collect TNT and create a small base of it about 5 blocks from their tower. Depending on how high their tower is, you may have to stack up a bit.

Build a small platform and place a block in the center of it. Put TNT on all four sides, then put a pressure plate on the center block. Jump on the pressure plate and block with your sword, then wait. When the TNT explodes, it should shoot you high into the air and you can land on their tower.

This is great to take out their tower quickly and keep them from being able to counter. The only problem is it requires a lot of practice and TNT can sometimes be very difficult to find.

Hopefully you found these tower takedown strategies helpful, and if you follow them, towers shouldn’t be a problem for you anymore.

MinecraftBuild Showcase #1

As many of you know, less than a month ago we released our newest server, MinecraftBuild. It’s a place where you can go to build maps on your very own server, as well as be a part of the building community. Whether you decide to build a map for a specific MCPvP gamemode or just for fun, you can build anything you want and share it with your friends.

Another neat feature of MinecraftBuild is that you can teleport to other players’ public maps and see what they’re building. I’ve been poking around looking at a bunch of different builds, and I’ve seen some really cool ones. I’d like to share some of them with you in a new series: MinecraftBuild Showcase. I’ll be perusing MinecraftBuild.com and reading emails to bring the best of the best maps you guys have built here to show off to everyone.

1. “Shattered Rift”

Shattered Rift is a CTF map set in a valley with a massive tree in the middle. This map has some impressively terraformed hills and one of the gnarliest willow trees you ever saw (no pun intended). The water flows out from the hills into a central point surrounding the tree to add to the natural vibe of the map. Check out the map for yourself on our CTF servers!

2. “Renaissance” (by admiralhumz_33)

Renaissance is a Sabotage map that puts you back in time 500 years to experience the traditional and rustic feel of 15th century Europe. The houses are spot on and laid out in such a way that it creates a small village for you to explore. Oh, and of course you can’t go wrong with the town lumber mill by the canal. Check out the map for yourself on our Sabotage servers!

3. “Castle Cavern” (by hewhospillsalot)

Castle Cavern is a CTF map set in a huge cavern. And oh my, look how well-built that castle is! The multiple height layers and sizes of the different castles within the walls just looks stellar, and it looks even better set on the miniature grass island. Contrast that with the dark background and majesty of the cavern, and you got yourself a piece of eye candy, folks. Check out the map for yourself on our CTF servers!

4. “Hobbit Hole” (by MightyToast43)

Any Lord of the Rings fans out there? Toast did such an amazing job with this Hobbit hole, you can almost feel the serenity of The Shire in it. When I walked inside the house, I had to make sure I didn’t hit my head on the ceiling as it was clearly built for hobbits and not wizards. And what’s that in front of the furnace in the last picture? Doesn’t look like a block I’ve ever seen before… I had to destroy the floor to see that it was a minecart furnace under a gray wool carpet. It has to be one of the most creative aestetic touches I’ve ever seen! All the terraforming was apparently done by hand too, which is quite the feat! You can check this build out for yourself at 9536.MinecraftBuild.com, along with some more of MightyToast’s awesome builds.

5. “Bloodbath” (by Sephel)

For every showcase, I’d like to include something I’ve been working on so you can get a sneak peak of what the future holds. I won’t go into any detail in regard to what you’re looking at except that it’s a secret and it’s inspired by “Warsong Gulch.” Looks too small to be a CTF map; I wonder what it could be!

Want to submit a map you made on MinecraftBuild for a chance to have it showcased? Connect to minecraftbuild.com and start building! Once you have a map or an object you’d like to submit, send an email to Sephel@mcpvp.com titled “Build Showcase” with the ID of your map and at least 1 screenshot of your map — and if we show it off, you’ll receive a week of PRO!

Weekly Update, Tips and Tricks for the new Plague kit!

The Plague kit has been released for purchase. Unsure what the kit does? Need some advice on how to use the kit? Look no further!

Plague

This kit is perfect for taking out teams, or spreading your infection across the majority of the server. You as the Plague, start with the infection. This will give you weakness 1 when your health is below 5 hearts, and slowness 1 if your hunger is below 5 bars. If you hit someone, you will give them the same infection you have. As they hit people, they will too get infected. Only Plague kit users have pain killers – these will instantly refill your hunger, and give you regeneration for double the amount of health you miss. You start with 3 pain-killers.

My Top Tips…

  • Be sure to have a Cultivator at hand when using this kit. It’s important to stay topped up on food, that way you wont get the slowness effect, and your health will always regenerate if low.
  • Hit as many people as you possibly can when invincibility ends. The more people you hit, your infection will spread faster – this will give them weakness 1 if they fall below 5 hearts, which can be very useful in fights.
  • Use your pain-killers at near death situations, the boost it gives can be life-saving!
  • If you enjoy playing in a large team, hit all members of your team, and tell your team-mates to run off and go their separate ways to seek out enemies. Since they will be chasing down different people, they will spread the infection to lots of different players. Your team-mates can always meet back up with your later, for feast and late-game dominance.

If you have a top tip for the Plague kit, please be sure to leave it in a comment! If you’ve made a kit review, I’d also love to see that too!
